Field-Trips-Qingcaosha Reservoir
The 1st International Conference on Coastal Reservoirs and Sustainable Water Management
will be held by Hohai University in Nanjing (China) in November 6th-9th, 2023. The academic field-trips of the conference is Qingcaosha Reservoir in Shanghai. On November 10th, 2023, academic field-trips of the conference will be conducted at Qingcaosha Reservoir in Shanghai.
Brief introduction:
Qingcaosha Reservoir is located on Qingcaosha, an alluvial sandbar northwest of Changxing Island. Because Qingcaosha has a large amount of high-quality fresh water, the Shanghai municipal government decided in 2006 to build Qingcaosha into Shanghai's water source to change the pattern that more than 80% of Shanghai's tap water source comes from Huangpu River.
Qingcaosha Reservoir is the largest Jiangxin Reservoir in China at present, with a maximum effective capacity of 553 million cubic meters and a designed effective capacity of 435 million cubic meters. It has a total length of 43 kilometers of levees, enclosing nearly 70 square kilometers of water, equivalent to 10 West Lake in Hangzhou.
